Sushi Time
325 Queen St. West
Before I begin my usual ramblings and google-mappery, I’d like to say hello to the people visiting from TasteTO.com. Every time I see a spike in traffic I know it’s because Greg and Sheryl have mentioned me. If you haven’t checked out their site yet, what are you waiting for?
Whats the time? Well, it’s unfortunately not yet time to get ill as it were, but it is Sushi Time! Great apologies to the Beastie Boys for stealing a lyric and butchering it badly into a horrible joke. The Thursday lunches continue to pay off for my Sushi and blogging habit. But since I’m a little tired today I used up the last of the “really close to the office” sushi places. This means that in the coming weeks I’m going to have to go for a hike for my lunches.
But Sushi Time was also a bit of a safe bet. I’ve been here before in the “pre-blog” days, and I knew going in that the food was going to be good. This is a really good thing as I kinda needed a bit of Japanese comfort food. Since this is a place on Queen West, the fact that the restaurant is more or less un remarkable is a good thing. There seems to be a pretty good level of quality throughout the strip, and unremarkable says to me “This place has good food, good decor, and good wait staff.” Nothing stands out on the exceptional side (this would probably make it more expensive) and nothing stands out on the negative side. *cough*ilovesushi*cough*
Once again I must thank my friend Jackie for introducing me to Sushi Pizza as it’s warm and comforting. The Sushi Time Pizza ($7.25) is in the “Sushi Bar Specials” area of the menu, where it should be, not the appetizers area. A touch more expensive than what I’ve come to expect, but well made. No cheese here. Just a perfectly pan fried rice patty without the huge amounts of mayo that is trying to hide low quality ingredients. It was warm, tasty, and really hit the spot.
I wasn’t feeling like hunting through the menu to find something new and exciting today. As I said, it was all about comfort food. So I went with the Spicy Tuna ($4.75). Now this was a little different than usual as it was in the Makimono menu and not the “normal rolls” section. Hence, for once I had Spicy Tuna that wasn’t Uramaki (rice on the outside). The one very welcome part of this is that I like the taste of Nori, and with it on the outside it gives the roll just a little bit of an extra fishy taste. Needless to say it was very well rolled, and tasted just right. Not to spicy, not too bland. There was nothing to hide here, the tuna was of a darn good quality.
My green buddy Laura grabbed her usual Vegetarian sushi set. At $11.95, she got a selection of Nigirisushi, a piece of Inari, and an Avocado Makimono.
All in all, Sushi Time delivered some really good comfort food. Everything was exactly as good as I expected it to be. There’s something to be said for dependability.

Quality gets a thumbs up here and this sushi set was just the right amount of food. Compared to last week’s sushi set at I Love Sushi, quality wins over quantity (their sushi set contained 18pcs of mediocre, falling apart rolls).
I have to be honest, I got a friend working there for like 3 weeks, igore the fact they only pay half of the minimum pay to the poor girls, the kitchen my friend say is very very dirty…..
Comparing quality ( I personally like the ones on bay street, own by Japan owner, clean, I assume), and quantity (Chinatown maybe) and money (sushi on bloor think every one knows this place), this sushi times is not a good place to go.
