I live close to this place and it's definitely one of my new favorite sushi places. The staff is always so nice. But most importantly every time the sushi has been abundant, well done and cheap. Can't complain with that combo. mmmm makes me want to go there writing this ;)

Oh and by the way... now since you've reviewed all these sushi restaurants.. what's your top ten list look like???

I completely disagree, I thought this place was TERRIBLE. I ordered the RED DRAGON ROLL ($9.99). The tuna was sliced PAPER THIN and the rice was overcooked and warm. The GYOZA ($3.99) was a disgrace.

Don't know what when wrong with your visit. I have been to this place sooo many times, often with Korean and Japanese friends who should understand a bit about sushi. Never had a problem of any kind. Food in my opinion is great compared to what you pay. Usually for 30$ you can get at least two fancy maki plus a more regular one. Being a regular customer, I am treated well every time, including discounts or free extra items. We should add that the chef put some effort in having original dishes and not only the usual sushi stuff that everybody makes in Toronto. Also, I took pictures many times and never had a complain from the chef. I guess it is also a matter of estabilish a minimum relationship before taking such a step.

Finally I disagree on the fact that on Bloor you can find better for that price. Usually full of cheap UoT crowds and very fast-food-ish kind of thing.

I have nothing but contempt for Aji Sai and all their locations, especially the Belleville location. Not only have I been on the receiving end of some of their horrible sevice, I have heard it from many others. They have continually ignored me and my group. It takes over an hour to get a full order. They frequently "forget" or deliberately do not deliver food to the tables. The other day they did not give us 1/3 of our lunch and insisted we did get it. The food had been delicious but the chefs, servers and owners don't care. We will never go back.

The photo thing was off putting, but the food being so poor is the real reason to pass.

Go ahead and add away!

I was thinking about trying this place out as I've passed by it a number of times and I've always stopped to look at their photos and menu from the outside. The fact that you were given a hard time about the photos puts me off a bit though. Thanks for the post! I read your last one on Mariko and you came to the same conclusion my boyfriend did :\ If you don't mind, I'd love to add you to my blog roll. I'm a mega sushi fan myself and am gradually eating my way around :)

I'm never going back. Service is deteriorating fast! I live very close to Rainbow Sushi and my family frequently dined there. With the most recent dinner buffet visit, we were made to wait for 20 mins for 1 dish. Stayed more than 1 hr to enjoy 3 dishes. When I complained, the waitresses were panicky & cldn't give concrete responses. Another family was complaining for the same reason & they were there longer than us. We were billed with the full amount which I refused to pay given only 3 dishes were served. Rainbow Sushi is now erased in my list.

Food was ok, but service was pretty bad. Food took a while to get to our table and they kicked us out after an hour. Waitress was rude to our table and rushed us to finish and get out. Still expected tip. Will not be returning.

I just got back from the place......

While waiting for my lunch to be ready, I saw the fry cook put freshly cooked dumplings into my container, drop one, pick it up of the floor and put it into container with the rest...not cool lunch box not cool.

I complained and they swapped out for another container of dumplings.

I'm not sure I am that comfortable with the 5 sec rule applying at a sushi restaurant, however cheap it may be. This will no longer be my regular lunch spot....ug
